Drop-off/Pickup and Bus Procedure
Drop-off/Pickup and Bus Procedure
The safety of our students is our top priority. To ensure a smooth and safe dismissal each day, please carefully review the following information regarding after-school walkers, parent pick-up, and bus riders.
Identifying Your Child’s End-of-Day Transportation
Please let your child’s school know if your student will be a walker, parent pick-up, or bus rider. If there is a change in how your child will go home, contact the school as early in the day as possible.
- A walker is a student who walks home after school. Each school has its own process for dismissing walkers, so please check with your child’s school for details.
- A parent pick-up is a student who is picked up after school by a parent/guardian or parent approved individual.
- A bus rider is a student who takes the bus home after school.
This information is critical so that we can dismiss students safely and to the correct location.
Walkers
Students who are designated as walkers will be escorted by staff to the designated dismissal area.
- Transitional Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and 1st grade students will not be released unless an identifiable parent/guardian or pre-arranged, parent-approved individual is present.
- Please ensure the school office has current information on who is authorized to meet your student.
Pick-Up Procedures
- Parents/guardians should use the school’s designated pick-up location and follow pick-up instructions.
- Please be on time, as staff must ensure all students are safely accounted for before leaving campus.
Bus Riders
- Transitional Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and 1st grade students will not be released off the bus unless an identifiable parent/guardian or pre-arranged, parent-approved individual (such as an older sibling) is present at the bus stop.
- If your student normally rides the bus, but you or an approved family member need to pick them up instead, please contact your school office by early afternoon to make those arrangements.
- Once students are on the bus, calls or texts to your child’s cell phone will not be accepted as a means of communication for a change in transportation. For safety reasons, bus drivers cannot respond to or verify incoming calls or texts.
- If there is an end-of-the-day emergency requiring your student to get off the bus, please contact the school office immediately. A staff member will work directly with the driver.
A Note on Communication
Clear communication is essential for the safety of our students. Last-minute changes can create confusion and delays, so we appreciate your cooperation in planning ahead and notifying your child’s school in a timely manner.
We are committed to ensuring that every student gets home safely each day. Thank you for working with us to support smooth and secure dismissal procedures.
